Both new films this week, Eclipse, and Airbender, didn't release on the Friday as most do. Eclipse hit the screens on June 30th, while the film based on the series most kids knew as 'Avatar' (before James Cameron took the name for his film earlier this year) hit the streets the following day, on June 1st. Both are heavy fan-driven titles - Airbender with kids that love the cartoon, and Eclipse with teens that love badly written books about necrophilia, bestiality and other unsavory topics in a PG-13 setting - which has given them such strong boosts.
The charts otherwise looks similar to last week, including the Monday figures, although it's considerably higher. The major standout is at the bottom, where 10th and 11th places swap over Monday's figures. Letters to Juliet makes a return, after being out of the top-10 since the first weekend in June., and Cyrus makes a great showing with it's limited opening, with a performance that would have put it in 3rd place, had it been on wide release.
Originality-wise, it's 4-from-11 (Grown-ups, K&D, Cyrus and Juliet) which is above average, as is the number of 3D films.
