In part 3, we move away from just the solenoid channel, and on to a more expansive simulation. ChicaneLinacA takes the design of SolenoidsOnly, and expands on it, adding a magnetic chicane, and a linac.

The New Terrorism, Part 1 – Identification

Across the western world, a new form of terrorism is breeding. It strikes fear into citizens, it attempts to change civilization as we know it, and it attacks and assaults people on a daily basis. It's name? “Anti-terrorism.”

Dabbling With Android

In an attempt (Brave, foolhardy or otherwise) to better myself, I'm attempting to learn how to code for the Android platform.

This will be quite a challenge for me, as aside from some c++ coding when I did my degree, in the late 90s, I've not done anything like this since my Dragon32.

Muon1 Best Designs - Solenoidsto15cm

Originally posted at the unofficial Muon1 blog

In the second part of our series, we look at Solenoidsto15cm. This was the second lattice, and the first time that a change in the design paramaters had happened, without needing a new version of the client.

Muon1 hits 25 Million-Billion Particle Timesteps

The Muon1 project hit another milestone recently. Last year I posted about it hitting 20 quadrillion (or Million-billion) particle timesteps, well less than 11 months later, it had added another 5 Quadrillion to that number. a 20% increase in work in less than a year!

BitTorrent Turns 10

Internet protocols and 'systems' are either hit or miss. They last for ages, or only a few months. The web, email, IRC, all things that have lasted, eXeem, Google Wave, hardly any time at all. In the fast paced world of the web, it's often the frantic turnover that kills a new product, especially when it's launched into the middle of a rapidly developing area by a lone developer. BitTorrent has made the grade, as it today celebrates it's 10th birthday.
